Every year the wildebeest migrate from Serengeti in Tanzania to Masai Mara in Kenya, crossing international boundaries as well as wondering outside protected national parks. The migration itself has caused changes. It has influenced change in predator patterns, routes of scavengers, and even the migration of other prey. A phenomenon of this magnitude has also pulled in its wake tourism. This presentation by Muhammed Hassanali explores some of the theories of how the Great Migration may have started, how it is sustained, its influence on other wildlife, and on the local economy.
