Ranger Department K-9 Unit Fund

Chase & Ranger Collins Rico & Ranger Barr Logan & Ranger Garris

Donations to the Ranger Department K-9 Unit Fund are a special way for individuals and organizations to support Cleveland Metroparks Rangers and the dogs that are part of the department. Financial contributions to the K-9 Unit Fund help to provide specialized training and equipment to ensure the safety of all Park District visitors as well as promote public safety.

Cleveland Metroparks Ranger Department K-9 Unit was established in 2001 to better serve the needs of ensuring Park District safety. The K-9 Unit is staffed by three dogs -  Logan, Rico and Chase. Logan and Rico are state and nationally certified police canines.  Chase is currently in training.  All of the dogs and their handlers continuously update their skills through weekly regional training exercises, statewide instruction, and national conferences.

The K-9 Unit patrols throughout Cleveland Metroparks 23,000 acres and specializes in locating missing persons, apprehending fleeing suspects and detecting illegal drugs. The outstanding reputation of the K-9 Unit is well known throughout northeast Ohio and their assistance is regularly requested by local communities throughout the year.  The K-9 Unit also draws upon its unique public appeal to promote safety and crime prevention at Cleveland Metroparks events and selected community programs.

Contributions to the Ranger Department K-9 Unit Fund are also a meaningful way to recognize a special peace officer or dog lover in your life while helping to support Cleveland Metroparks. All donors and persons being honored or memorialized will be recognized in Cleveland Metroparks Emerald Necklace newsletter, and the annual Gift of Nature report.
