(Winter) Homeschool Programs
Program Type(s): Educators, Families
Programs are available for students in kindergarten through eighth grade and meet on the second Tuesday of the month from January through May and September through December. All programs take place in the Jungle Lab classroom inside The RainForest. Programs are fun, interactive, and educational!
We are unable to accommodate walk-ups for these programs. Please register in advance.
Registration closes Thursday night for programs the following Tuesday.

- Noon - 1:30 p.m. (Grades 4-8)
January 14 – The Chemistry of Lake Erie
Learn about the effect we have on our largest aquatic habitat and the wildlife that call it home.
February 11 – Animal Locomotion
Learn about how physics plays a part in different styles of animal movement, and how some can defy gravity to get around.
March 11 – Our Role in Species Survival
Learn about Species Survival Plans, as well as how and why the Zoo manages its animal populations.
April 8 – Disease Defenses
Learn how animals are built to protect themselves and what the Zoo does to help keep our collection healthy.
May 13 – Animal Adaptations
Learn why animals are built differently and how they use their differences to survive.
September 9 – The Fossil History of Ohio
Learn about the fossils we find in our state, and the animals that once called Ohio home!
October 14 – Animals Need Plants
How important are plants really? Discover the many different ways animals need plants to survive.
November 11 – All About Marine Mammals
Learn how some of our fellow mammals are adapted for a unique aquatic lifestyle.
December 9 – How To Design a Zoo Exhibit
New Zoo exhibits are difficult to plan for many reasons. Help brainstorm ideas and follow through with a concept for a new exhibit.
$8 per person (members), $10 per person (non-members)
*One adult will be admitted free of charge for each family registered. Program fee includes admission to the Zoo and The RainForest.
